Position: Senior Backend Engineer (Contract / Full-Time / Remote)
We are seeking a full-time Senior Software Engineer to become a vital part of our product development team. You will collaborate with the backend division to create the foundational elements that will enhance the robustness and scalability of our platform, enabling deployment to cities worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in constructing scalable backend systems using the technologies integral to our platform. A minimum of 6 years in designing and developing distributed web applications with a backend focus is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesYour Role:
- Develop a Spring-based application utilizing a microservices architecture.
- Ensure adherence to architectural guidelines and industry best practices.
- Coordinate API contracts with other teams (mobile & web).
- Oversee backend deployment processes (GitLab CI/CD).
- Collaborate with technical architects, testing teams, and front-end developers to ensure seamless delivery of product features.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain code quality.
- Participate in our agile development process and mentor other backend developers.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer.
- Experience working in a remote environment.
- Strong software design and algorithmic skills.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies.
- Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Candidates must be located within the EU Timezone (CET +/- 2).
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Object-Oriented Programming with Java.
- Experience with GraphQL and Reactive GraphQL.
- Familiarity with the Spring Framework and Microservice Architectures.
- Strong understanding of source control management and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with Git and GitLab CI/CD.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Graph databases (e.g., Neo4j).
- Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Experience with payment gateways like Stripe.
- Knowledge of routing algorithms and SaaS product development.
- Experience in building big-data powered products.
