Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Biochemist/Biophysicist (m/f/d) to join our esteemed team at Indivumed GmbH. As a key member of our Target Characterization group, you will play a pivotal role in pharmacological target characterization and screening for hit identification in the field of pharmaco-oncology.

In this laboratory-based position, you will spend more than 75% of your time screening and characterizing protein targets, developing assay protocols, and contributing to the generation of biochemical tools that enable the development of first-in-class therapeutics against validated targets.

Responsibilities
  • Implement small molecule ligand screening campaigns for hit-identification using developed cell-free and cell-based assay platforms and contribute to associated patent applications.
  • Use purified proteins or relevant protein domains for biophysical ligand screening and ligand-target interaction characterization, including SAR-type experiments.
  • Engage and supervise external vendors performing surface plasmon resonance and NMR experiments on our behalf.
  • Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists and theoretical biophysicists performing virtual ligand screening and modeling part of SAR, as well as actively engage with a team of biochemists purifying proteins and performing biochemical assays.
  • Troubleshoot and support new project needs as an assay development expert independently and in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Draft SOPs, generate data, analyze/interpret results, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Manage and mentor Research Analysts, if assigned.
  • Contribute to departmental administration and ensure proper maintenance of records in accordance with policies.
Requirements
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Chemistry after studying Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, or comparable subjects.
  • At least 3 years of post-doctoral experience in biophysical methods and establishing screening procedures for target molecules in cell-free and cell-based systems.
  • Broad knowledge and strong background in assay development techniques for a range of protein target classes and state-of-the-art fluorescence, luminescence, and absorbance detection methods.
  • Scientifically creative and results-oriented with attention to detail and expertise in common data analysis and management software (Prism, ImageJ, eLN, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive annual salary of approximately €85,000 (base salary), commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus additional benefits and incentives. Please include your expected salary range and current notice period when applying.
