We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Amentum. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex heavy equipment systems, including track vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using technical manuals.
- Inspect, repair, and replace components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.
- Identify parts in repair manuals and place order requests for needed parts.
- Perform scheduled services on equipment fleets.
- Perform road tests on vehicles after repairs and services have been completed.
- Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report, ensuring accuracy.
- Provide own basic mechanics tool set.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- 6 years' experience as a mechanic required.
- 4 years' specialized experience working with heavy equipment track vehicles equivalent to the M1A2, M2A3, M109A6.
- Army MOS 91A/91M/91P preferred.
- Meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Obtain a US Passport.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.
- May be required to obtain a military driver's license (OF 346).
- Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves-51+ with the assistance of another person, touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeing-general, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.
- Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48-hour work week.
- Frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
