Job Summary:

Amentum is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex issues with heavy equipment, including track vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficiencies.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using technical manuals.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.
  • Identify parts in repair manuals and place order requests for needed parts.
  • Perform scheduled services on equipment fleets.
  • Perform road tests on vehicles after repairs and services have been completed.
  • Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report, ensuring accuracy.
  • Provide own basic mechanics tool set.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 6 years' experience as a mechanic required.
  • 4 years' specialized experience working with heavy equipment track vehicles equivalent to the M1A2, M2A3, M109A6.
  • Army MOS 91A/91M/91P preferred.
  • Meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization.
  • Obtain a US Passport.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • May be required to obtain a military driver's license (OF 346).

Physical Demands:

  • Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves, 51+ with assistance.
  • Touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeing-general, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.

Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation.
  • Loud noise level in the work environment.
