We are looking for a visionary researcher and educator to join our team as a W2 Professor for Developmental Biology. The successful candidate will be part of the neuroscience research community in Magdeburg, conducting innovative research in the field of developmental neurobiology and teaching developmental biology at a high level of enthusiasm, commitment, and excellence. Requirements
  • A habilitation or comparable achievements according to § 35(3) HSG-LSA
  • An independent research profile with an excellent record of first/senior authorships and demonstrated ability to attract independent research funding

We offer a salary in accordance with the German W-Besoldung at level W2 (Besoldungsgesetz Sachsen-Anhalt), amounting to approximately €80,000 per year, plus additional benefits such as a comprehensive pension plan, health insurance, and generous holiday allowance. The recruitment will initially be in a temporary employment relationship for a period of five years, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent W2 professorship following a positive evaluation in the final year.

About the Neuroscience Community

The neuroscience research community in Magdeburg is organized under the umbrella of the Center for Behavioral Brain Sciences (CBBS). The community comprises more than 100 neuroscience PIs from various university institutes and clinics, working together on initiatives such as the collaborative research center 1436 «Neural resources of cognition» and the research training group 2413 «SynAGE».
