About the Role

RWE Supply & Trading GmbH is seeking a skilled professional to join their IT Infrastructure department as a Cloud Cost Optimization Specialist. This full-time, permanent position will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of change and technical innovation for the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize cloud native and third-party cost management toolsets to drive commercial and cost avoidance optimisations across the cloud estate based on Azure.
  • Provide expert knowledge on cloud cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing, reserved instances/savings plans, scheduling, and processor/instance types.
  • Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards to deliver weekly/monthly cost reporting using Power BI.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and Cloud Platform teams to implement cost optimization recommendations and best practices.
  • Define and implement a new FinOps governance framework and roadmap of FinOps activity to maximize and optimize cloud spend.
Requirements
  • Strong experience in cloud cost optimization and the cloud FinOps sector.
  • A strong understanding of Azure compute technologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of public cloud pricing schemes.
  • Moderate FinOps meetings with DevOps engineers, documenting collaborative agreed approach and setting objectives for evolving dashboard reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing and executing commitment-based savings plans for Azure, cloud cost management tooling, and building dashboards.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Clear, effective written and oral communication.
  • Cultural awareness and willingness to travel (largely between UK and Germany).
Advantageous Qualifications
  • Ideal certification at foundation level for respective platform (Azure compute technologies).
