Role Overview
Join the RWE IT Infrastructure department and contribute to the advancement of change and technical innovation within the organization. This position reports to the Lead of FinOps Practitioner in the Cloud & Datacentre team (C&DC) and is pivotal in establishing the knowledge, team, and policies necessary for effective cost management in the Cloud. Collaborate with teams in Cloud Engineering, Cloud Platform, Finance, and Commercial to create and maintain a comprehensive Cloud Financial Management program, which encompasses tagging frameworks, governance models, budgeting, cost optimization strategies, chargebacks, and finance integration.
- Leverage both Cloud-native and third-party cost management tools to drive commercial efficiencies and cost avoidance across our Azure Cloud environment.
- Provide specialized expertise in cloud cost optimization techniques, including rightsizing, reserved instances/savings plans, scheduling, and instance type selection.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance custom reports and dashboards for weekly and monthly cost reporting utilizing the Power BI platform.
- Work closely with Cloud Engineering and Cloud Platform teams to implement cost optimization recommendations and industry best practices.
- Define and execute a new FinOps governance framework and roadmap to maximize and optimize Cloud expenditures.
Essential Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Cloud cost optimization and the FinOps domain.
- In-depth understanding of Azure computing technologies.
- Familiarity with Public Cloud pricing models.
- Facilitate FinOps meetings with DevOps engineers, documenting collaborative strategies and setting objectives for evolving dashboard reporting.
- Proven track record in managing and executing commitment-based savings plans for Azure, utilizing Cloud cost management tools, and developing dashboards.
- Ability to work autonomously with a keen eye for detail and precision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and a willingness to travel.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification at the foundational level for relevant platforms (e.g., Azure computing technologies).
