Research Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to join our team at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany. As a researcher in our Junior Research Group "Pediatric Immuno-Oncology", you will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of gene editing and immunotherapy.

About the Project

Our research group is focused on developing new methods to improve immunotherapy of solid tumors. We are using advanced genetic engineering techniques, including CRISPR-based Modular Pooled Knockin Screens, to study the interactions of CAR T cells with tumor cells. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and collaborate with international research networks.

Responsibilities
  • Establishing new experimental protocols and optimizing novel technologies
  • Setting up computational approaches to design gRNA libraries and read out large CRISPR screens
  • Designing and performing complex experiments involving a large number of methods
  • Staying up to date with scientific literature
  • Presenting research on a regular basis within the group and externally
  • Preparing grants and publications
Requirements
  • Completed studies with a diploma or a master's degree in biology, bioengineering, biomedical science, biochemistry, or other relevant fields
  • Excellent communication skills and social competence
  • Team player who is motivated to closely work with collaboration partners within the institute and beyond
  • Strong laboratory and writing skills
  • Willingness to lead and perform in vivo studies
  • Previous experience in coding, CRISPR / Cas technology development, CAR T cells, primary cell culture and in vivo models is helpful but not mandatory
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • German language skills are not required
