Tenure Track Group Leader Position in Fish Movement Ecology

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated researcher to lead a research group in fish movement ecology at the Leibniz-Institut für Gewässerökologie und Binnenfischerei. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing an independent research program that advances our understanding of fish movement patterns in freshwater ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead a research group in fish movement ecology
  • Develop and implement a research program that advances our understanding of fish movement patterns
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the institute and participate in interdisciplinary research projects
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific conferences
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in animal behaviour, ecology, data science, evolutionary biology or a related field
  • Expertise in movement ecology, preferably with fishes
  • Strong interest in modelling approaches and aquatic ecosystems
  • Motivated to collaborate in a team of scientists with diverse backgrounds and to initiate interdisciplinary research
  • Strong publication track record commensurate with career stage
  • Success in competitive funding acquisition commensurate with career stage
What We Offer

We offer a tenure track position with a long-term perspective in a dynamic international scientific environment. The working language is English. The position is full-time with an option for temporary or permanent work time reduction. It is based at the Department of Fish Biology, Fisheries and Aquaculture in Berlin. Salary is paid according to the German salary scheme for the public sector (TVöD Bund E14). We foster career development by providing qualification and training opportunities.
