Research Position in Fish Movement Ecology

We are seeking a highly qualified researcher to lead a research group in fish movement ecology at the Leibniz-Institut für Gewässerökologie und Binnenfischerei. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing an independent research program that advances our understanding of movement patterns of fish through experimental and field studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish an independent research group to study fish movement ecology
  • Analyze fish movement patterns at different spatio-temporal scales
  • Conduct experimental laboratory and field work in aquatic ecosystems
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific conferences
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the institute and participate in interdisciplinary research projects
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in animal behaviour, ecology, data science, evolutionary biology or a related field
  • Expertise in movement ecology, preferably with fishes
  • Strong interest in modelling approaches and aquatic ecosystems
  • Motivated to collaborate in a team of scientists with diverse backgrounds
  • Strong publication track record commensurate with career stage
  • Success in competitive funding acquisition commensurate with career stage
