About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal System Engineer to join our team at Rivada Space Networks GmbH. As a key member of our system engineering team, you will play a crucial role in the development of our LEO satellite network.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and contributing to system design documents, ensuring consistency and accuracy
  • Developing and generating technical notes to enhance our intellectual base in LEO satellite networks
  • Identifying novel ideas and supporting patent applications
  • Supporting various teams, including network design, regulatory, user terminal, and ground segment, in your areas of expertise

As a Principal System Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from concept development to system deployment. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of our system and identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field, with a Master's or PhD an added advantage
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to communicate in well-written technical documents
  • Excellent written and spoken English

In addition, you should have at least two of the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in satellite communication systems, with at least 3 years focused on LEO systems
  • Experience with DVB protocols, especially DVB-S2X and DVB-RCS2, and knowledge of 5G protocols
  • Knowledge of network protocols for user, control, and management planes
  • Experience with MPLS L2 and L3 VPNs, LDP, and MPLS Traffic Engineering
  • Experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and Spanning Tree Protocol
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security Frameworks, such as NIST CSF, ISO 27000+, and expertise with tactical communication systems design
  • Experience designing or implementing satellite user terminals, including phased arrays and modems
  • Experience with software architecture for large-scale systems and the corresponding software operations
