Expedition Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Expedition Operations Manager to join our team at HX Expeditions.
About the Role:
The Expedition Operations Manager will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our expedition vessels. This involves reviewing operational standards, proposing solutions to drive effective operations, and overseeing the safety and security aspects of assigned ships. You will work closely with captains and chief engineers to ensure compliance with statutory certification requirements, maritime legislation, and international regulations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe delivery and execution of marine superintendent duties and vessel safety;
- Review and improve operational standards to drive effective navigation and operation;
- Monitor and assess navigation, communication, safety, and other nautical equipment needs of each vessel;
- Proactive communicator with patience, incorporating effective listening as key to problem-solving;
- Drive results while keeping a commitment to the guest experience;
- Think sustainably and bring this mindset to your team and partners;
- Champion the HX Purpose and Spirit;
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Fluency in English required; German or Norwegian beneficial;
- Minimum two years in a Marine Superintendent position required;
- Shipboard experience required in a senior nautical position, expedition vessel experience preferred;
- Experience working in a multinational global environment;
- Comfortable with traveling to remote destinations as needed;
- Strong verbal, presenting, and written communication skills with experience working with captains and chief engineers;
- Demonstrated experience with time management and organizational skills;
Estimated Salary: €80,000 - €110,000 per year (dependent on experience)
Location: Hamburg, Germany (primary base) or remote with extensive travel/relocation possible
