Job Title: PV Engineering Manager

At Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel, we are seeking a highly skilled PV Engineering Manager to join our team in Berlin, Germany. As a key member of our onshore renewable energy business, you will be responsible for leading the engineering efforts for our solar PV projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and review energy yield calculations using PVSYST software.
  • Conduct due diligence for PV projects, focusing on energy assessment, design, feasibility, and engineering issues.
  • Support development and early-stage projects with conceptual designs.
  • Analyze sites focusing on engineering issues, including visits to the sites, to design and build a PV plant.
  • Develop PV plants design, optimize it, and calculate PV plant electrical configuration.
  • Develop solar PV design packages, including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, and equipment mounting details for utility-scale solar PV systems with support of external engineering firms.
  • Develop requirements for SCADA and communication solar PV plant facilities.
  • Estimate inverter MVA for reactive power requirement.
  • Take engineering lead on solar-specific projects, including bid development, contract review, progress tracking, and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Supervise the EPC works focusing on engineering issues.
  • Support the implementation of new trends, from a PV plant perspective, like batteries, hybrid solutions, etc., that could be considered for the pipeline.
  • Represent the company with relevant stakeholders, such as agencies and institutions, both public and private, in relation to matters relating to its responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or similar.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or similar.
  • At least 5 years' experience in engineering of photovoltaic projects in Germany.
  • At least 3 years' experience working with PVSYST software.
  • Expert user of PVSYST software.
  • Experience in batteries projects is a plus.
Desirable Skills:
  • Design of photovoltaic plants, including production analysis, electrical, and civil works.
  • Knowledge in new trends about PV main equipment (modules, inverters, fix structure/tracker).
  • Knowledge in contracting topographic and geotechnical campaigns is a plus.
  • Knowledge on construction of photovoltaic plants is a plus.
  • Knowledge on communications and scada system is a plus.
  • Experience working with certification companies is a plus.
  • Knowledge on grid regulation is a plus.
  • Experience in getting through Germany Administration licensing process for renewable projects is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in working with international project teams in diverse and often complex working environments is a plus.
  • Extensive portfolio of industry contacts is a plus.
Language Skills:
  • German (full professional competence).
  • English (full professional competence).
  • Spanish will be positively considered.
