About the Team

Our Grid Technology division is at the forefront of enabling a reliable, sustainable, and digital grid. As a Research Engineer for Power System Planning and Grid Operations, you will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the field of power system research and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development on the application of AI/ML techniques to power system planning and grid operations
  • Collaborate with internal experts and research institutions to co-innovate and co-create AI/ML new solutions for emerging challenges in power system generation and transmission
  • Analyze large datasets from power systems to identify patterns, trends, and insights that can drive innovation
  • Develop and implement AI/ML models and algorithms to optimize the technical and techno-economic analysis of power generation and transmission systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into existing power system planning and analysis services
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, master's degree with significant research experience may also be considered
  • Proven experience in power system engineering, with a focus on AC/DC grid applications
  • Strong proficiency in AI/ML techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and deep learning
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, or MATLAB
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
  • Familiarity with one or more of the power system simulation tools and software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSCAD/EMTDC)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills in business-fluent in English, German is a plus
