Market Risk Analyst Job Description

At Uniper, we are seeking a highly skilled Market Risk Analyst to join our Risk Management team in Düsseldorf. As a Market Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in identifying, analyzing, and managing market risks in Uniper's portfolios.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with traders and trading management to discuss and challenge new investments and hedging strategies.
  • Approve complex and large transactions, ensuring that all exposures are fully understood, including assessing overlooked risks and agreeing hedging strategies.
  • Develop standard deal entry methodologies for complex and long-term contracts, ensuring that difficult-to-value elements are properly reported.
  • Support the development and maintenance of asset-backed risk models, including calibration of such models.
  • Engage in innovative tasks for Risk Management, such as designing methodologies to quantify risks outside of established risk metrics.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and simulation, collaborating with the quantitative team to develop methods for risk assessment.
  • Represent and present the managed portfolio to senior stakeholders and management.
  • Think commercially about the development and implementation of new products and hedging tools in markets and steer new business approvals.
  • Build a solid, commercially oriented environment with involved functions, encouraging cross-team cooperation and communication on portfolio questions.
  • Understand front-to-end processes and work effectively across all levels of the organization to challenge, promote dialogue, and drive cooperation.
  • Contribute to holistic risk awareness and the promotion of risk management across the business.
Your Profile:
  • You will need a broader understanding of the industry and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent education.
  • Relevant experience in the energy industry is preferable (4+ years).
  • Learner mindset, strong analytical orientation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to simplify and streamline complex content into quickly and easily understandable concepts.
  • Ability to engage in balanced and independent interaction with commercial teams.
  • Commercially oriented individual with strong focus on accuracy of information and attention to details.
  • Strong team player with experience of working in an international and multicultural team.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages welcome).
