Your Future Responsibilities
The Structuring and Valuation team at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) is integral in delivering quantitative insights for trading and optimizing commercial assets. Our work spans various commodities and asset classes, including power, industrial metals, renewable energy, and battery storage. Key responsibilities include data engineering, asset valuation, commercial optimization, and crafting model-based trading strategies within energy commodity markets.

  • Contributing to the formulation of business cases for Renewable and Hydrogen asset portfolios (e.g., Wind, Solar) and for commodity contract portfolios, including gas and electricity options and spread options for markets such as the US or Australia.
  • Assisting in establishing financial valuation frameworks for these assets and contract portfolios.
  • Participating in the comprehensive framework design process, which includes acquisition, data analytics, model selection and calibration, product valuation, management, and the visualization and communication of outcomes.

Your Essential Skills

  • Pursuing a degree in mathematics, physics, natural sciences, IT, or economics with a focus on finance.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities are crucial.
  • Proficiency in programming, preferably in R, Python, and SQL.
  • Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating in a results-driven team environment.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.

Desirable, but Not Mandatory

  • Some practical experience with financial markets and/or familiarity with energy commodity markets.
