We are seeking a highly skilled Linux/Android Security Engineer to join our team at the BMW Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of automotive security and making our products even more secure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and configure security features across multiple layers of our Linux distribution, from hardware to end-user applications.
  • Integrate secure aspects of the Android platform and collaborate with application teams to develop a modern and secure customer experience.
  • Apply your knowledge in hardware security, application security, cryptography, network security, and other security domains to address the high complexity of modern connected cars.
  • Perform threat modeling, threat analysis, and support other teams in implementing secure products.
Requirements:
  • University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study, ideally with a security focus.
  • Hands-on experience in Linux or/and Android security, including kernel hardening, Linux permissions, capabilities, namespaces, and secure RPC.
  • Knowledge of isolation techniques and containerization mechanisms is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of security principles, latest techniques, and operating system features, such as secure boot, disk encryption, SELinux, integrity protection, and cryptographic protocols.
  • Background with modern software development in C++, Java, Kotlin, or Python, with experience in Continuous Integration and Delivery tools.
  • Understanding of basic principles of threat modeling and practical experience is a plus.
  • Business-fluent English is required, and German would be an advantage.
