Secure the Future of Mobility
The BMW Group is seeking a highly skilled Linux/Android Security Engineer to join our team of experts in shaping the future of automotive security. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and configuring security features across multiple layers of our Linux distribution, from hardware to end-user applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement security features to protect our infotainment systems against attacks, both over the air and from physical access.
- Collaborate with our engineering team to develop innovative software solutions to mitigate complex security threats.
- Integrate secure aspects of the Android platform and work with application teams to develop a modern and secure customer experience.
- Apply your knowledge in hardware security, application security, cryptography, network security, and other security domains to ensure the highest level of security for our products.
- Perform threat modeling and threat analysis to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
Requirements:
- University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study, ideally with a security focus.
- Hands-on experience in Linux or/and Android security, including kernel hardening, Linux permissions, capabilities, namespaces, and secure RPC.
- Knowledge of isolation techniques and containerization mechanisms is a plus.
- Thorough understanding of security principles, latest techniques, and operating system features, including secure boot, disk encryption, SELinux, integrity protection, and cryptographic protocols.
- Background with modern software development in C++, Java, Kotlin, or Python, with experience in Continuous Integration and Delivery tools.
- Understanding of basic principles of threat modeling and practical experience is a plus.
- Business-fluent English is required, German would be an advantage.
