The BMW Group is seeking a highly skilled Linux/Android Security Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of automotive security and making BMW products even more secure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and configure security features across multiple layers of BMW's Linux distribution.
  • Integrate secure aspects of the Android platform and collaborate with application teams to develop a modern and secure customer experience.
  • Apply knowledge in hardware security, application security, cryptography, network security, and other security domains to perform threat modeling and threat analysis.
  • Support other teams in implementing secure products and contribute to the development of innovative software solutions.

Requirements:

  • University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study, ideally with a security focus.
  • Hands-on experience in Linux or/and Android security, including kernel hardening, Linux permissions, capabilities, namespaces, and secure RPC.
  • Knowledge of isolation techniques and containerization mechanisms is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of security principles, latest techniques, and operating system features, including secure boot, disk encryption, SELinux, integrity protection, and cryptographic protocols.
  • Background with modern software development in C++, Java, Kotlin, and experience with Python as a universal tool.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery tools, such as Jenkins, Zuul, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Understanding of basic principles of threat modeling and practical experience is a plus.
  • Business-fluent English is required, and German would be an advantage.
