The Test Engineer at Cooper Standard plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of our products. This position involves creating and implementing test cases, documenting defects and failures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Setting up, programming, and running test lab equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Designing tests to meet customer specifications and providing feedback to engineering teams.
  • Performing failure analysis on tests that do not meet specifications and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshooting lab equipment failures and collaborating with maintenance teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Preparing test reports for internal and external customers and providing feedback on lab technician tests and work.
  • Collaborating with external customers to understand their needs and providing feedback on test results.
  • Working with lab personnel to minimize past due test results and ensure data accuracy.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment by adhering to 6S, housekeeping, and health & safety standards.

Requirements for this position include:

  • A 3-4 year college or university degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Two to four years of relevant work experience in a test engineering or quality assurance role.
  • Fabrication, blueprint reading skills, and equipment knowledge are preferred.
  • Knowledge of statistics and strong mechanical aptitude are essential.
  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills, as well as good interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to recognize and solve typical problems without supervisory approval.
