Job Description

Position Summary

Fugro is seeking a highly skilled Aerial Sensor Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our airborne survey team, you will be responsible for preparing, testing, installing, operating, monitoring, and maintaining airborne survey sensors. Your primary role will involve assisting the airborne team in planning deployments, mobilising equipment and supplies, and reviewing post-deployment activities for improvements.

You will provide support in areas such as production, operations, and maintenance to surveyors, sensor operators, and processors for data acquisition and interpretation. You will execute operations in the field, both onshore and offshore, and operate, maintain, and support Fugro's aerial sensors and supporting equipment.

As a Sensor Operations Technician, you will ensure that components are operational to conduct acquisition in accordance with project deliverables and applicable regulations. You will also provide technical support to Fugro's vessel operations as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Background in electronics, with airborne systems a considerable advantage.
  • Familiarity with computer-managed flight navigation systems, Lidar sensors, or digital cameras.
  • Understanding of geographical mapping concepts, such as coordinate systems and datum.
  • Fundamental knowledge of computer operations and the ability to operate high-tech sensors during flight.
  • Experience with maintaining, repairing, and deploying field sensors.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge through training airborne operators on the use of sensors.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion, with minimal notice.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in an environment with little or no direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software and PC-based computers.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel internationally (ability to acquire passport or visa).
