Data Center Mechanical Systems Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Data Center team in Frankfurt am Main. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for leading the design of mechanical systems for medium to large-scale mission-critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of mechanical systems, including cooling, HVAC, PH, fire fighting, and diesel supply systems, through all design stages from concept to construction supervision and hand-over.
  • Prepare and review design deliverables, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Lead projects and work closely with our data center clients to deliver quality work that meets their specific needs.
  • Present technical content for review by technical and non-technical audiences, demonstrating a good grasp of industry trends and standard methodologies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders, including other disciplines, authorities, public service providers, and international clients.
  • Connect solutions and ideas to bigger picture project and client goals, ensuring alignment and success.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, collaborating with skilled multi-disciplinary teams to maximize our experience at the local, regional, and global level.

Requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of experience designing mission-critical mechanical systems for industrial facilities, with experience in data centers being a plus.
  • Ability to manage project deliverables and budgets while effectively prioritizing tasks.
  • Knowledge of relevant German codes and industry standards.
  • Design experience with different cooling solutions.
  • Familiarity with EEFG requirements, PUE/WUE calculations.
  • Experience with technical due diligence projects.
  • Understanding of Tier Levels (UI, TUEV IT) and SPOF analysis.
  • Experience with 3D BIM software, Revit MEP.
  • Fluency in English and ideally German.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
  • Passion for quality, sustainability, and innovation.
