IT Operations Manager for Trading

Our Trading IT Team in Düsseldorf is seeking a skilled professional.

The Short Term Trading Solutions department within Uniper IT is tasked with overseeing all modifications in IT systems that support the short-term trading and dispatch processes. This department comprises Project Managers, Business and System Analysts, and DevOps Engineers dedicated to delivering both large-scale transformational projects and critical Business As Usual tasks for commercial Power and Gas operations. We are currently looking for an IT Operations Lead with the following responsibilities:

  • Visible and Impactful Role: You will hold a significant and visible position within a diverse, international team of DevOps engineers, architects, and project managers.
  • End-to-End Operational Ownership: You will take full responsibility for ensuring the reliable operation and BAU change delivery of cloud-based applications within a short-term trading deal lifecycle management environment. You will manage the corresponding backlog and align overall delivery priorities with relevant stakeholders, making this role crucial for both operational and strategic aspects of Uniper.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: As a technical innovator, you will consistently identify and implement measures for continuous improvement through rigorous performance monitoring and the application of relevant quality metrics using modern tools.
  • Operational Insight and Transparency: You will ensure transparency regarding the status and critical aspects of IT operations through proactive and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Quality and Incident Management: With a strong focus on quality, you will conduct root cause analyses, extract learnings, and manage critical incidents, ensuring targeted preparation and communication.
  • Strategic Project Support: You will support strategic projects as an expert, ensuring that the needs and interests of IT operations for the applications you manage are adequately considered, actively shaping the future of the application landscape.

Professional Experience: You should have 3-5 years of experience in roles such as Application Management, Operations Analyst, or Operations Engineer, where you have developed your skills and knowledge.

Cloud Expertise: Experience with cloud-based application operations and environments, particularly with platforms like Azure, is essential for enhancing operational efficiency.

Service Provider Management: A proven track record in managing internal and external service providers and teams is required, ensuring that all services meet high standards of quality and reliability.

IT Application Support Mastery: You should possess comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end IT application support processes, with solid experience in application support, issue resolution, and incident management.

IT Operations Knowledge: Familiarity with IT operations, including best practices from standard IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks, will allow you to drive improvements and efficiency.

Analytical Excellence: Strong analytical skills are necessary to develop a comprehensive understanding of complex problems, enabling you to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

Problem-Solving Skills: As a logical thinker, you should take ownership of problems and incidents, using resourcefulness and creativity to resolve issues while maintaining composure under pressure.

Independent and Collaborative Work Style: You should be capable of working independently and as part of an agile team, with a strong desire to take on responsibility and drive projects to successful completion.

Communication and Organizational Skills: A structured approach to thinking, coupled with high organizational skills, will enable you to present complex topics clearly and effectively to various audiences.

Product Experience (Preferred): Familiarity with products from Volue, Kisters, ION, and PSI will be considered an advantage in this role.
