Academic Position in Vehicle System Technology

The Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Professor of Vehicle Technology in its Institute of Vehicle System Technology (FAST). This professorship is a key component of the KIT Mobility Systems Center and plays a central role in the strategic research area of mobility.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the advancement of research in vehicle technology, with a focus on the development of sustainable and innovative mobility solutions. This will involve the investigation of suitable vehicle architectures, vehicle concepts, and mechatronic subsystems, as well as the exploration of dynamic vehicle behavior, innovative operation and control strategies, and interactions between vehicles, users, and the environment.
The professor will also be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the area of vehicle technology, with a teaching obligation of 9 hours per week per semester. The successful candidate will be expected to complement the existing research portfolio by introducing new focus areas related to the vehicle system.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle system technology, with several years of experience in industry and a proven track record of research and development projects. International work experience and leadership skills are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to cooperate across disciplines within and outside of KIT and to actively acquire public and private third-party funding.
The professorship is subject to Article 14, par. 2 of the KIT Act in conjunction with Article 47 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges, Landeshochschulgesetz).
