Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to represent polymer engineering in research and academic education at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT). The successful candidate will head a working group at the Materials Science and Engineering Unit of IAM and hold an executive position in the Department of Polymer Engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT in Pfinztal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent polymer engineering in research and academic education
  • Head a working group at the Materials Science and Engineering Unit of IAM
  • Hold an executive position in the Department of Polymer Engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT in Pfinztal
  • Teach courses in German and English on theoretical and practical fundamentals of plastics and their processing for the Master's Programs of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Technology
  • Conduct research in polymer materials and processing, material composites, characterization, circularity/lifecycle assessment, and related process, plant, and tool technologies

Requirements

  • Comprehensive experience in several areas of polymer engineering
  • Excellent reputation resulting from scientific achievements of international visibility or corresponding work in industry
  • Leadership experience and ability to work in a team
  • Teaching aptitude and ability to acquire public and private third-party funding
  • Willingness to cooperate across disciplines and participate in academic self-administration work

Employment is subject to Article 14, par. 2 of the KIT Act in conjunction with Article 47 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges, Landeshochschulgesetz).
