Position: Test Engineer – Propulsion (f/m/d)

The Laboratory Testing division is tasked with conducting component, system, and aircraft-level ground evaluations. Our teams are dedicated to preparing and executing tests that support research, development, and certification in the fields of propulsion, batteries, structures, and environmental assessments.
In this position, you will be part of the Propulsion Testing team, focusing on the preparation and execution of tests related to propulsion systems. Close collaboration with the design team is essential to ensure optimal testing strategies for our products.
As a Test Engineer, you will oversee the entire test campaign, from initial requests to the delivery of test data, including assessment, preparation, commissioning, execution, and reporting, while adhering to our established testing protocols.
- Evaluate test requests and refine them in collaboration with the design team
- Develop a comprehensive test concept
- Design the test and measurement setup in detail
- Coordinate with technicians, suppliers, and other support teams
- Plan test execution, including procedures and risk assessments
- Conduct hands-on testing
- Process data and compile results for reporting
- Create and review engineering documentation for test setups and outcomes
- Provide feedback to the design team for product enhancements
- Assist in resource and workload planning in conjunction with interfacing teams
- Promote a safe working environment in the laboratory
- Continuously learn about our test articles and methodologies, sharing insights with the team
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (M.Sc/M.Eng preferred)
- Strong knowledge and experience in propulsion testing is essential
- Familiarity with measurement methods and instrumentation is required
- Experience in data analysis and post-processing is necessary
- Understanding of aerospace testing processes, methods, and best practices is advantageous
- Experience with testing multi-kW electrical machines is a plus
- Proficiency in a CAD system (Siemens NX preferred) is beneficial
- Motivated individual with the ability to question and challenge assumptions
- Capability to work with incomplete requirements and anticipate customer needs
- High level of independence and ability to collaborate within a diverse team
- Analytical problem-solving skills with a target-oriented work style are required
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in German or other languages is a plus
