System Performance Engineer (m/f/d)
Key Responsibilities
Within the Satellite Systems Engineering division, the System Performance team plays a crucial role in overseeing the system performance of our spacecraft from the initial study phases through to in-orbit commissioning. As a member of our team, you will engage in a multidisciplinary environment where you can significantly influence the overall system architecture of our space missions, coordinate design and development efforts related to space system performance, and validate performance requirements through rigorous analyses and testing.
Specific Duties
In this role, you will collaborate with architects and subsystem engineers on various tasks, including:
- Establishing and maintaining mission performance budgets, with a focus on geometric performance.
- Coordinating performance analyses at the satellite level.
- Analyzing geometric performances and developing related software tools.
- Flowing down performance requirements from system level to satellite and subsystem levels.
- Planning and executing performance calibration.
- Managing technical aspects of data processing and simulation chains at the system level, including responsibilities for processing at the satellite level.
- Contributing to the technical management of payloads and platform units pertinent to system performance.
Required Qualifications
- A university degree in physics, aerospace engineering, remote sensing, or a related field.
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial:
- Satellite design, particularly for optical and/or radar missions.
- Design and simulation of control systems, multibody systems, mechanisms, or similar.
- Geometric performance analysis of Earth observation space missions.
- Technical management of payload and/or unit development for space missions.
- End-to-end simulation of Earth observation and/or scientific data.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB and Python.
- A self-managed, solution-oriented, and proactive work ethic.
- Strong teamwork capabilities.
- Proficient in written and spoken English and German; additional language skills are a plus.
