Technical Support Specialist for Mass Spectrometry

Location and Division:
Our facility in Bremen is a hub for research, development, and production, employing approximately 500 professionals. We specialize in high-end measurement and analysis instruments, particularly mass spectrometers, which are utilized in scientific research globally. Our innovative offerings in Life Sciences MS, Inorganic MS, and Trace Elemental Analysis are recognized as leaders in their respective markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and monitor technical issues related to Thermo Fisher Scientific Sector Field Mass Spectrometers across a global install base.
  • Assist Service Engineers during equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with the Field Service Organization on various initiatives.
  • Facilitate global software updates.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions for Field Service Engineers, including the preparation of training materials.
  • Create, update, and disseminate Factory Communication documents on the Factory Product Support website.
  • Report field issues to relevant factory departments (Quality, R&D, Parts & Repair) to enhance quality and implement solutions.
  • Engage actively in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and generate corresponding support documentation for new instruments.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate-level qualification or equivalent vocational experience in Electronics, Science, or Physics; an electronic engineering degree is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting electronic systems is preferred.
  • Technical familiarity with Thermo Fisher Scientific Element ICP, Element GD, and/or DFS Magnetic Sector GC HR Mass Spectrometers is beneficial.
  • Experience in conducting training sessions or workshops is a plus.
  • Customer-oriented with a strong commercial acumen.
  • Organized and proactive, with a commitment to self-education and systematic work practices.
  • Willingness to travel for onsite troubleshooting, training, and installation support (up to 15% of the time).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
