Electrical Systems Specialist

As an Electrical Systems Specialist at Siemens Energy, you will be responsible for performing high voltage testing on large generators worldwide. Your day will start with a morning briefing with our customer, followed by setting up the testing equipment and connecting it with one of the large turbo generators. You will ensure that all quality and safety standards are met before energizing the system, and then monitor the data and optimize the test parameters to gain a profound understanding of the generator's condition. Your analysis will provide valuable insights for maintenance activities, and you will discuss the results with the engineering department and our customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and perform various electrical tests on generator windings and stator core
  • Dielectric Standstill Diagnostics (Partial Discharge Measurement, Dissipation Factor Measurement)
  • 500Hz Stator Core Loop Tests
  • High Voltage Tests - AC and DC
  • Voltage Drop Test
  • Recurrent Surge Oscillograph (RSO) Measurement
  • Perform fact-finding activities and robotic inspections on generator components during service outages
  • Carry out troubleshooting, analyze customer problems, liaise with Engineering and implement remedial measures
  • Compile records and reports to document the condition of the equipment
  • Prepare and complete tests to prove operational readiness

Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Master of Engineering (Electrical or related field); fresh graduates encouraged to apply; relevant work experience is a plus
  • Willingness to expand knowledge of turbo generator design and technologies, including electrical insulation, for in-depth product understanding and test object analysis
  • Understanding of technical equipment, ability to work with technical documentation, and knowledge of general power plant technology
  • Experience in power plant operations and maintenance; Siemens Energy Generator operations and maintenance know-how advantageous
  • Strong analytical skills, affinity for technology and innovation, proactive and convincing attitude; resilience and ability to work independently under pressure, multitask, and solve problems in a complex environment; collaboration with international teams
  • High degree of flexibility, unrestricted mobility, ability to work in a team, and strong communication skills; willingness to travel internationally on short notice and work flexible hours; excellent knowledge of technical English and German
