About the Role

HENSOLDT Optronics GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Team Lead to join our Development department in Wetzlar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of designers in the development of high-quality opto-mechanical systems
  • Analyze customer requirements and identify implementation options
  • Derive technical requirements from specifications and create concepts
  • Design complex opto-mechanical systems and associated assembly and testing equipment
  • Define test requirements and participate in engineering tests and verification
  • Calculate development costs and plan development periods
  • Capacity planning of the design team, including prioritization
  • Support the start of production and series support
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams and external partners

Requirements

  • Degree in precision engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or similar
  • Several years of professional experience in leading a design team
  • Several years of professional experience in design, preferably in the field of opto-mechanics
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with composite materials and finite element analysis advantageous
  • Sound knowledge of a 3D CAD system, preferably Creo4
  • Affinity for optical and optoelectronic devices
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Creative and solution-oriented way of working, strong communication skills, and team orientation
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
