Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Team Lead to join our Development department at our Wetzlar site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical management of the design team
  • Analysis of customer requirements and examination of implementation options
  • Deriving technical requirements from specifications
  • Creation of concepts taking into account functional, economic, and time requirements and control of technical implementation
  • Designing complex opto-mechanical systems and associated assembly and testing equipment
  • Definition of test requirements and involvement in engineering tests and verification
  • Calculation of development costs and planning of development periods
  • Capacity planning of the design team including prioritization
  • Supporting the start of production and series support
  • Closing cooperation in interdisciplinary project teams and with external partners

Requirements

  • Degree in precision engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or similar
  • Several years of professional experience in leading a design team
  • Several years of professional experience in design, preferably in the field of opto-mechanics
  • Experience in working with SAP
  • Experience with composite materials and finite element analysis advantageous
  • Sound knowledge of a 3D CAD system, preferably Creo4
  • Affinity for optical and optoelectronic devices
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Creative and solution-oriented way of working as well as strong communication skills and team orientation
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
