Lead Data Scientist

Munich-based MAM Gruppe is a global market leader at the forefront of innovation, shaping the future with data-driven solutions. Our client is a dynamic, forward-thinking organization where technology and strategy converge to drive significant impact globally.

As the Lead Data Scientist, you will spearhead the end-to-end initiation of AI projects, from ideation to execution. You will lead a team of data professionals, leveraging your expertise to deliver innovative solutions that drive business outcomes. This role emphasizes strategic leadership, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement, with around 20% hands-on tasks, allowing you to stay connected to the technical aspects of your field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • AI Project Leadership: Initiate, design, and execute AI and data science projects that align with business goals, from concept to deployment.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Strategy & Innovation: Identify opportunities for AI and machine learning applications, contributing to the strategic roadmap of the organization.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and oversight on data science methodologies, ensuring best practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact and success of data science initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in AI, recommending and implementing innovative techniques to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a data science or AI-focused role, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and AI methodologies with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with data science tools and programming languages such as Python, R, and relevant ML libraries.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, driving alignment on project objectives and outcomes.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively and innovate within a structured corporate environment.
  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
