The Decisions Alliance plays a pivotal role in managing the company's Marketing Technology Stack, Customer Data, Experimentation, and MLOps platforms. This team is dedicated to establishing a swift feedback mechanism to gain insights into customer behavior, utilizing AI and machine learning capabilities to optimize communication strategies. We are continuously exploring innovative methods to enhance our support for teams in refining their feedback processes and reducing iteration cycles.
Role Summary
The AdTech tribe oversees two essential platforms that are widely used across HelloFresh: the Experimentation and Communications platforms. The Experimentation platform enables teams to execute thousands of experiments each year, promoting a culture centered around data-driven decision-making. Conversely, the Communications platform assists marketing and product teams in reaching out to our (potential) customers through their preferred communication channels. Both areas are highly collaborative, involving Mobile, Frontend, Data, and Backend disciplines, and heavily rely on data while utilizing event-driven microservice architectures.
As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will work closely with Engineering teams and Staff Engineers across both platforms, aiding them in their technical decision-making processes. Your role will involve leading initiatives that span multiple teams and domains, focusing on areas such as Data Modernization and Operational Excellence. Leveraging your extensive knowledge of the domain, you will take ownership of target data architectures and guide the long-term vision for system architecture and integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and guide Engineering teams and Staff Engineers in developing technical solutions that align with our target data architecture.
- Act as an active, solution-oriented member of autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, working alongside Product Owners, Engineers, Data Scientists, Marketing teams, and Experimentation leads throughout the entire Product Development lifecycle, from discovery to delivery.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of HelloFresh's core products and architecture, advocating for technical solutions and best practices while providing support and mentorship to colleagues.
- Address software and data challenges that present visible risks, roadblocks, and constraints, including legacy dependencies, data quality issues, compliance concerns, or architectural limitations.
- Promote (Data) Operational Excellence by collaborating with teams and Engineering Leadership to identify and prioritize investments aimed at improving data quality and the robustness of data pipelines.
Qualifications
- Extensive Technical Expertise: Proficiency in a wide array of technical skills pertinent to Data, Backend, Frontend, and Mobile Engineering, including knowledge of database systems, distributed computing, backend development frameworks, mobile application development platforms, and data engineering tools and practices.
- Systems Thinking: The capability to comprehend complex systems holistically, recognizing the interactions and impacts of various components, and utilizing this understanding to design and implement scalable and efficient solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Outstanding collaboration skills to effectively engage with teams across different engineering disciplines, fostering an environment of cooperation, knowledge sharing, and alignment towards shared objectives.
- Leadership in Technical Decision-Making: Proven leadership in steering technical decision-making processes, balancing trade-offs among various engineering disciplines, and advocating for solutions that align with HelloFresh's strategic goals while ensuring technical excellence and sustainability.
- Effective Communication Across Disciplines: Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely, facilitating productive discussions and collaboration among diverse engineering teams, product managers, and other stakeholders.
