Adaptive Optics Engineer

Phaseform, an innovative player in the optics sector, is seeking a Development Engineer (m/f/d) to enhance their dynamic team. This company, a spinoff from the University of Freiburg's Department of Microsystems, focuses on pioneering applications of adaptive optics within life and vision sciences. Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement production tools for our latest adaptive optics product line;
  • Collaborate on technology development initiatives with the IMTEK at the University of Freiburg;
  • Explore market potential, facilitate product launches, and provide support to initial customers.
Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in engineering or a related discipline, or over 5 years of relevant experience, especially in mechanical, optomechanical, or electronics engineering, or a suitable combination of education and experience;
  • Experience in technical product development and the introduction of new products;
  • Familiarity with the development of production systems, assembly lines, manufacturing automation, and robotics;
  • Proficient in production tooling UX/UI programming;
  • Strong command of English and eligibility to work in Germany are essential.

Additionally, the following qualifications are considered advantageous:

  • Experience in material sciences or optofluidics;
  • Knowledge of production outsourcing;
  • Experience in clean-room environments and microfabrication;
  • Understanding of adaptive optics;
  • Product management experience;
  • Background in entrepreneurial ventures or startups.
