Research Fellowship in Pancreatic Cancer Studies

vor 1 Monat

Munich, Bayern, Deutschland Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) Vollzeit

At the German Cancer Research Center, our commitment is to advance research aimed at eradicating cancer. We delve into the mechanisms of cancer development, identify risk factors, and explore innovative strategies for cancer prevention. Our goal is to enhance diagnostic precision and improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients. Every role contributes to this vital mission, making our work both meaningful and engaging.

In collaboration with esteemed university partners across seven leading institutions, we have formed the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK). Within the Institute of Translational Cancer Research and Experimental Cancer Therapy at the DKTK partner site in Munich, we are offering a

Postdoctoral Researcher in Pancreatic Oncology

Reference number: -

  • Full-time
  • DKTK partner site Munich – Translational Cancer Research and Experimental Cancer Therapy, TranslaTUM

Our research employs genetic models to investigate the molecular, immunological, and translational dimensions of pancreatic cancer. We utilize these models to uncover immune signals that contribute to immunosuppression and tumor progression in vivo. Over the past decade, our laboratory has established a comprehensive collection of primary pancreatic tumors and cell cultures. We have conducted various next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods and biological analyses to decode the molecular characteristics and phenotypes of these tumors. The projects we offer focus on elucidating the immune landscape of pancreatic cancer, its influence on treatment responses and resistance, and identifying key targetable context-dependent drivers of tumor microenvironment subtypes and their immunosuppressive strategies. In close partnership with the Theis lab at Helmholtz Center Munich, we apply advanced computational techniques to explore the interactions between cancer cells and their environment, including the immune system. Our team is international and enthusiastic, providing extensive training and mentorship.

Your Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain valuable insights into clinically relevant tumor-host and immune interactions
  • Conduct cutting-edge in vivo experiments and large-scale drug and genetic screenings
  • Learn and implement a broad range of genetic, molecular, cell biology, biochemical, immunological, and bioinformatics techniques to investigate translational cancer aspects
  • Utilize bioinformatics platforms and computational pipelines for analyzing bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, DNA sequencing datasets, and proteomics
  • Integrate these datasets with molecular, phenotypic, drug screening, and clinical information
  • Collaborate within a diverse and multidisciplinary environment of biologists, clinicians, computational scientists, and mathematicians
Your Qualifications

We seek an exceptional, self-motivated individual with a master's and PhD degree in biochemistry, biology, molecular/translational medicine, or related fields. Experience with fundamental biochemical and molecular biology techniques, proteomics, or bioinformatics, along with a keen interest in the molecular aspects of cancer research, is essential. Given the interdisciplinary nature of our work, strong communication skills and fluency in English are crucial.

Interested candidates should submit a single PDF file containing a CV, cover letter, certificates, and letters of recommendation through our online application portal.
