Actuarial Expert for Non-Life Reserving

About the Role

Munich Re is seeking a highly skilled Actuarial Expert to join our Central Reserving team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for evaluating reserves based on actuarial methods, communicating with various stakeholders, and performing actuarial analyses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate reserves for non-life segments using actuarial methods and portfolio knowledge
  • Communicate with underwriting, pricing, controlling, accounting, risk management, and claims staff to obtain necessary information and share findings
  • Perform actuarial analyses, including multi-year analyses, pricing-reserving comparisons, and in-depth portfolio analyses, and create presentations for various stakeholders
  • Support the evaluation of large loss expectations for the worldwide reinsurance non-life portfolio
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual internal and external reporting for the non-life business
  • Support automation and complexity reduction, as well as the transition towards new ways of collaboration
Requirements
  • University degree in actuarial science or mathematics or related field with a strong quantitative focus
  • Actuarial education (Aktuar DAV or similar degree of other actuarial society) intended, started, or completed
  • Actuarial experience in loss estimation in non-life insurance (e.g., pricing, reserving, underwriting, or risk management) desirable, preferably in the non-life area
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with emphasis on practical application
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences (English required, further languages beneficial)
  • Motivated, open-minded, with team-oriented focus and discreet concerning confidential matters
  • Solid organizational skills and high standard of accuracy combined with independence and the ability to find pragmatic solutions
