Job Title: Thesis Project in Thermal Engineering

Job Overview:
We are offering thesis opportunities (Bachelor's and Master's level) in the domain of Thermal Engineering and Internal Combustion Engines within the Powertrain Mechatronics sector. These projects will be guided by two experienced professionals from our department, ensuring adherence to the relevant academic regulations. Students may also combine internships with their thesis work. Please specify your preferred location in your application.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigating combustion processes in spark-ignition and compression-ignition engines
- Analyzing mixture formation in spark-ignition engines utilizing advanced MPI and DI injection technologies
- Evaluating emission characteristics and efficiency metrics of spark-ignition engines
- Exploring variable ignition systems, valve actuation, and boosting mechanisms
Required Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a university program focused on Mechanical Engineering or Vehicle Engineering, with a specialization in Piston Engines, Fluid Machinery, Automotive Engineering, Technical Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, or Thermal Process Engineering
- Strong theoretical foundation in relevant subjects
- Practical experience in experimental operations, measurement techniques, and engine control systems
- High motivation and a strong capacity for learning new concepts
A confidentiality agreement between the supervising department and IAV is mandatory for this thesis project.
Desired Skills:
- A proactive approach to learning and problem-solving will enable you to address complex challenges
- Ability to apply newly acquired knowledge and skills effectively
- Proficiency in German or English at a C1 level
The compensation for this position is aligned with our collective bargaining agreement, with a monthly salary of 979 EUR.
