Your Role

As a student developer, you will play a vital role within our team of software engineers. Together, we are designing storage and processing systems for non-relational and multi-model data. Your contributions will directly impact business operations, enhancing efficiency and improving performance. In this position, you will conceptualize and implement effective algorithms, conduct unit testing, and participate in peer evaluations.

Recognizing that each individual possesses unique talents and interests, we can customize your responsibilities to align with your skills and aspirations. Potential projects may involve developing spatial or graph algorithms in C++, crafting persistence-related code for our JSON Document Store, or creating database plugins in Python or Typescript to facilitate Generative AI applications.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled student (f/m/d) at a university or university of applied sciences
  • Preferred academic disciplines: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Go
  • Fundamental understanding of databases and algorithm design
  • Language proficiency: Fluent in English; German is advantageous
  • Soft skills: Strong analytical thinking, collaboration, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Prior experience or involvement in relevant projects is a plus

Meet Your Team

We are the development team responsible for SAP HANA's Multi-model Engines, overseeing the Spatial Engine, Graph and Hierarchies Engine, JSON Document Store, and Vector Engine. While we are experts in database internals, we also seek to understand our customers' use cases in Geographic Information Systems, Network Analysis, and Generative AI. We value expertise, professionalism, and teamwork.
