Amazon is seeking a Senior Program Manager to oversee the EU Deforestation initiative. This environmental protection policy mandates that manufacturers, producers, and distributors are accountable for their products and packaging from the point of production.
The objective of this regulation is to mitigate global deforestation and forest degradation caused by consumption and production within the EU. The regulation pertains to seven key commodities and their derived products, including:
cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, soya, wood, and rubber. This encompasses various products such as leather, meat, chocolate, soybeans, palm nuts, tires, furniture, cosmetics, printed books, pulp, and paper.
With millions of vendors and ASINs, as well as our own private brands, compliance with these regulations is essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Program Manager will collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure Amazon meets the new regulatory requirements by:
- Designing, developing, and executing compliance measures in partnership with Retail, Books, Legal, Public Policy, Finance, and various technology teams.
- Coordinating and directing efforts across multiple business units to facilitate environmental compliance processes.
- Conducting environmental compliance analyses, establishing and monitoring relevant metrics, and guiding business teams in the execution of Amazon's EU Deforestation programs.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Exceptional communication skills and operational business insight.
- A proven track record in program management, particularly in technical aspects.
- A proactive approach and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing project plans, process documentation, and change management strategies for new environmental compliance initiatives.
- Creating and implementing innovative change management and communication strategies to ensure adherence to new regulations.
- Establishing and owning project success metrics, conducting deep dives on KPIs, and troubleshooting reports from multiple data sources.
- Measuring, tracking, and reporting on project status.
- Engaging with various stakeholders, including government agencies and data analytics firms, to communicate operational metrics and project updates.
- Building and maintaining global partnerships with both technical and non-technical teams.
In this dynamic role, you will prioritize various projects based on the evolving needs of a fast-paced organization. The EU Operations Compliance team at Amazon evaluates operational compliance requirements across the EU, ensuring adherence to regulations that impact the entire lifecycle of Amazon's services and products.
Our primary goal is to collaboratively develop, build, and maintain compliance for our offerings, ensuring alignment with all regulatory requirements to deliver the best and most sustainable experience for customers, vendors, and sellers.
Required Experience- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Experience in leveraging technology and implementing lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies to enhance process efficiencies.
