Key Responsibilities- Environmental Compliance: Assist in the implementation and enforcement of environmental standards and policies to support compliance and provide guidance to operations, maintenance, and construction teams.
- Environmental Inspections: Complete environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitor metrics, and undertake waste activities for the site.
- Regulatory Compliance: Manage and execute site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, surface water, wastewater, waste, and other environmental-related laws, regulations, and permits.
- Reporting and Communication: Manage and prepare site-specific environmental reporting to regulators and within Amazon.
- Waste Management: Manage waste management activities, classification, reporting, and permitting requirements.
- Site Inspections: Execute waste, surface water site inspections.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and provide guidance on site performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs, and Amazon global standards.
- Team Support: Support other sites with environmental compliance and ensure site leadership and employees' training.
- Improvement Analysis: Analyze environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends to determine where improvements are needed.
- Program Implementation: Execute site-specific tasks associated with the implementation of Environmental Programs.
- Deficiency Identification: Identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
The Environmental Assurance and Protection team protects Amazon businesses and supports the needs of our customers by proactively mitigating environmental regulatory risks and protecting the environment.
Basic Qualifications- Language Proficiency: English and German at high proficiency level.
- Education: A degree as a chemist, chemical, or environmental engineer, or related environmental field.
- Experience: Experience with waste, dangerous goods, and pollution control.
- Knowledge: Knowledge in environmental legislation (water, waste, pollution control, dangerous goods, chemicals law, water soil protection) in Germany or willing to learn the environmental protection legislation requirements in Germany.
- Adjacent Legal Areas: Knowledge in adjacent legal areas (occupational and fire protection, energy law).
- Environmental Management: Extensive experience as an environmental management officer (ISO14001 and or EMAS) including safe handling of authorities and auditors.
- Warehouse Operations: Experience in warehouse operations and logistics is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel (pivot tables, charts, and graphics).
- Site Management: Ability to manage multiple sites.
