Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) in Berlin, Germany. The successful candidate will work on a PhD project in the area of optimal transport and machine learning, under the supervision of Dr. Jia-Jie Zhu.

Research Focus

The PhD project will focus on the development of new methods for optimal transport and machine learning, with applications in data-driven optimization and control. The candidate will work on the theoretical and numerical aspects of these methods, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers in the field.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, the candidate should have a master's degree in computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics, with a strong background in machine learning and optimization. The candidate should also have a good understanding of programming languages such as Python or MATLAB, and should be familiar with numerical methods for optimization and machine learning.
