PhD Student Position in Optimal Transport and Machine Learning

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research group at the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS). The successful candidate will work on a project focused on optimal transport and machine learning, with a strong emphasis on rigorous training in machine learning and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research in optimal transport and machine learning, with a focus on principled optimal transport theory, optimization, and machine learning.
  • Develop and implement novel methods for robustness in machine learning, causal inference, and robust optimization.
  • Collaborate with Dr. Jia-Jie Zhu and other researchers in the group to advance the state-of-the-art in optimal transport and machine learning.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics, with a strong background in machine learning or optimization.
  • Excellent research skills and a strong publication record in relevant venues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
