Physicist, Engineer, or Comparable for Satellite Navigation and Time Synchronization

We are seeking a highly skilled Physicist, Engineer, or Comparable to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in the field of satellite navigation and time synchronization.
Key Responsibilities- Characterize and model new types of clocks, as well as model the measurement channel between satellites based on measurement data.
- Develop and analyze efficient technologies for time keeping, time transfer, and time scale algorithms for the generation of system times.
- Develop demonstration and validation systems, as well as verify and validate newly developed technologies, including in space.
- Document development results in the form of technical reports, publications, and conference papers.
- Collaborate in national and international projects and support the acquisition of new projects.
- Supervise theses (Master's/Bachelor's; doctorate if applicable) in the subject area and of research assistants.
- Completed university degree (Master's/Diploma Uni) in engineering (e.g. electrical/information technology, communications engineering, aerospace engineering) or natural sciences (e.g. physics) or other degree programs relevant to the position.
- Very good technical knowledge and experience in the field of frequency stability and phase noise determination.
- In-depth technical knowledge and several years of proven professional experience in the field of engineering or physics, especially in time generation, (optical) frequency references, or time transfer and synchronization concepts.
- Basic knowledge of satellite navigation (GPS, Galileo).
- Programming skills in a higher programming language (LabView, C, Python).
- Experience in the acquisition, planning, and management of international projects and project teams.
- Experience in publishing scientific research results in scientific journals and presenting at international conferences.
- Very good knowledge of English (business fluent).
- Proven knowledge of optical technologies, especially laser systems, is desirable.
- Very good knowledge of German is of advantage.
- Doctorate in the field of optical technologies, frequency references, time generation, or synchronization of clocks is desirable.
