Lead Cloud-Native Full Stack Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe 'OT Cloud Services' product team is responsible for designing and implementing state-of-the-art solutions aimed at the digitalization of production and operational technologies. This specialized consulting and development group collaborates with various BASF divisions to harness the full capabilities of modern cloud technologies and edge computing across a range of exciting projects, including AI-driven production optimization, predictive maintenance, and asset monitoring.
- In this position, you will guarantee the scalable deployment and dependable operation of OT cloud solutions across both cloud and edge environments through software development, container orchestration, and infrastructure automation.
- You will design and create contemporary cloud-native applications utilizing well-established open-source projects and best practices.
- Your role will also involve backend development using REST and gRPC/protobuf, with a preference for C#.
- You will establish and manage databases, focusing on PostgreSQL, utilizing operators on Kubernetes or cloud-provider-specific services, and you will be adept at designing data models.
- Additionally, you will implement advanced DevOps methodologies, architecting and managing cloud-native applications based on Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, REST, and gRPC, preferably employing GitOps strategies with tools like Flux, Fleet, or ArgoCD.
- Basic familiarity with Azure DevOps and Azure Cloud is expected.
- You will oversee software vendors and implementation partners to ensure compliance with cloud-native standards.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, informatics, engineering, physics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in agile settings.
- A profound understanding of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) ecosystem, along with expertise in distributed system design, messaging, consistency guarantees, and software architecture.
- Proficient in at least one backend programming language, such as C#, Golang, C++, or Rust.
- Experience in industrial production and operational technology is advantageous.
- Fluent in English with a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies.
