Senior Rail Procurement Specialist

Position Overview:

The Lead Buyer for Rail Transport in Germany is accountable for the procurement framework and operations at a regional level, focusing on the German market. This role involves collaborating with Category Management to devise and execute a purchasing strategy tailored for the rail transport sub-category. The objective is to ensure timely fulfillment of all site requirements with optimal solutions.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the procurement of rail transport services for various goods originating from German facilities, encompassing strategy formulation, negotiation processes, approval reporting, contract finalization, user training, and ongoing enhancements.
  • Assist fellow procurement professionals managing other delivery scopes related to Germany or transit through Germany from international locations.
  • Act as the primary account manager for DB Cargo.
  • Engage in the innovation of new solutions, whether technical or commercial in nature.
  • Contribute to cross-functional team initiatives.

Candidate Profile:

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management is required.
  • Fluency in both German and English is essential; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
  • A proven track record in procurement with a minimum of 5 years of experience is necessary.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a strong comfort level in handling numerical data.
  • Possess solid technical knowledge regarding contracts and relevant systems, alongside expertise in project management and negotiation.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills, coupled with a keen interest in innovative industry trends and market analysis.
  • Results-driven and customer-focused, capable of thriving under pressure and managing change effectively.
