Job Summary
RWE Renewables Europe & Australia GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Grid Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Project Engineering Germany department, you will play a crucial role in the development, construction, and operation of our wind farms in Germany.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for all general technical grid issues, providing support to team colleagues, project developers, construction teams, and operations teams in the optimal design of grid connections.
- Analyse and optimize internal grid connection planning and grid connection request processes, adapting them to the requirements of various grid operators.
- Collaborate with project developers, operations teams, and strategy teams to develop concepts and strategies for grid-optimized project development and grid-optimized operation of wind and PV parks.
- Support grid operators in general technical, normative, and organizational issues, meeting regularly with various grid operators to ensure compliance with their requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant standards and laws, actively participating in committees and standardization committees to bring the perspective of system operators and adapt internal processes as needed.
- Conduct analyses and studies on grid bottlenecks and similar topics, or support external engineering offices and experts with such tasks.
- Participate in cross-departmental project teams and take on individual tasks in projects such as grid connection enquiries.
Requirements
- University degree in electrical engineering or industrial engineering with a specialization in electrical engineering.
- Relevant professional experience (at least 2 years) in the planning of power grids, particularly 20/30kV and 110 kV, wind and solar parks, or similar infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with grid operators, consultants, and engineering firms.
- Experience in committee work, such as standardization committees VDE, BDEW, FNN, etc.
- Good knowledge of relevant technical standards and guidelines, particularly VDE 41XX.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with people at different hierarchical levels.
- Ability to work in a team, with a strong interest in interdisciplinary tasks and the ability to build sustainable working relationships in project teams across regions and functions.
- Project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks independently.
- Business fluent German and good English skills.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel on business, usually for one day.
