We are seeking a highly skilled Protein Production Manager to join our dynamic team at KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA. As a pioneering role in plant-based food ingredients, this position will be an integral part of our KWS Food Ingredients team.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential service providers/partners for protein extraction from pilot and large-scale grain volumes, focusing on peas and other protein crops.
  • Organize and manage protein extraction from protein crops through service providers/partners to support product development projects and commercial activities, ensuring scale-up consistency.
  • Support the development of industry-mimicking lab-scale protein extraction processes.
  • Lead the production of protein crops on fields and in protected growing facilities, including production planning, contract grower management, and logistics coordination.
  • Align crop production activities with our internal plant breeding and seed production teams, providing input to protein extraction capacity and volume planning.
  • Ensure professional inventory management from seed to protein, where required establishing new processes.
  • Continuously strive to improve cost efficiency and protein quality parameters.

Your Ideal Profile:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in food engineering, food processing technology, process engineering, or adjacent sciences.
  • Professional experience in protein crop processing and protein extraction industry, or a strong network within the field.
  • Experience in agricultural crop production on fields and in controlled environments, especially with peas.
  • Hands-on attitude, proactive problem-solving, and innovative mindset.
  • Excellent networking skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Business fluent German and English language skills.
  • Driving license (Class B) and high willingness to travel.
