Position Overview:

Role Context and Team Integration

Deutsche Bank's Risk division is tasked with the comprehensive oversight and management of all credit, market, and operational risks. The Credit Risk Management (CRM) function operates independently, focusing on the thorough evaluation of counterparties, sectors, and sovereign risks, which enables Deutsche Bank to enhance its counterparty risk oversight.

The CRM GCAF Berlin Team is a dedicated credit unit within the Risk department, managing a varied portfolio of Financial Institutions and Corporates characterized by lower risk credit profiles.

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the workflow associated with a specific portfolio of counterparties, which includes conducting annual credit assessments and rating evaluations, as well as monitoring and updating ratings as necessary. This role also involves collaborating with relevant business units, credit teams, and other support functions to ensure data integrity and adherence to internal policy standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing and evaluating a designated portfolio of Corporates, Financial Institutions, and/or Municipalities in both Developed and Emerging Markets; initial focus may include ICC rated German MidCaps and/or FSC products involving numerous obligors
  • Drafting initial credit and rating reports, along with regular reviews of high complexity, including making credit decisions within the assigned credit authority
  • Timely processing and documentation of complex credit transactions, including the approval or preparation of decision proposals for higher credit authority staff
  • The product range primarily encompasses lower risk standard transactions, such as non-complex derivatives (e.g., FX Forwards, Interest Rate Swaps) and commercial banking products like Trade Finance, Cash Management, and Settlement and Collection
  • Acting as a key contact for specific portfolios/tasks and providing training and guidance to junior staff members
Required Skills and Experience
  • Relevant vocational training or professional experience is essential, including a University degree (University, Fachhochschule, or Berufsakademie) preferably in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Economics, along with several years of pertinent experience in credit risk management or a commercial banking role
  • Strong analytical capabilities; excellent understanding of balance sheet analysis (financial reporting); comprehensive knowledge of complex credit products and processes; good grasp of the economic and banking landscape, with a general interest in regulatory matters
  • Fluency in English and at least one additional language (both spoken and written), typically including German, Japanese, French, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Russian, Dutch, and Nordic languages
  • Proactive mindset, independent thought process, and an investigative approach to work; effective communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with (Senior) Management; strong time management abilities, capable of handling large volumes of data
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative, eagerness to learn and improve; ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
