In this pivotal role within our EU Product Innovation team, you will leverage your expertise in mixed-methods research to identify user needs and transform insights into innovative solutions that influence the entire product development lifecycle—from initial discovery through hypothesis testing, value proposition development, and user interface evaluation. Your research acumen will be instrumental in guiding the product development process, revealing new opportunities, and mitigating risks associated with our investments.

Your Objectives:

  • Explore New Frontiers: Spearhead research initiatives for novel product ideas to identify unmet needs and inspire solutions that enhance our business, benefit our customers, and enrich the payments ecosystem.
  • Act as a Research Mentor: Guide cross-functional teams through every phase of the development journey, providing insights from ideation to user testing and refinement.
  • Develop Engaging Narratives: Integrate quantitative and qualitative data into compelling user stories and strategic frameworks that ignite and structure the solution development process with collaborators, including designers, engineers, and product leaders.
  • Question Norms: Embrace the challenge of questioning established conventions and assumptions about solutions. Push the limits of traditional research methodologies and explore unconventional insights to uncover valuable information.
  • Adopt Agile Research Practices: Adjust and refine your research strategies as concepts evolve and prototypes change, ensuring that continuous user feedback drives the innovation cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct comprehensive mixed-methods research (both qualitative and quantitative) to inform product design and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams, including design, product management, and engineering, to embed user research throughout the product development process.
  • Design and implement studies to analyze user behavior, attitudes, and needs, employing various methods such as interviews, surveys, usability assessments, and data analysis.
  • Synthesize and present research findings to stakeholders in a clear and persuasive manner, influencing product strategy and decision-making.
  • Identify, onboard, and manage external research partners.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in user research and the financial services sector.

Your Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in user experience research, with a proven track record of designing and executing research across the complete product development lifecycle.
  • Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with the ability to seamlessly transition between ethnographic studies and survey design and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting research for early-stage, high-risk product concepts.
  • Deep knowledge of user-centered design principles and the ability to translate insights into actionable product roadmaps.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities, capable of distinguishing insights from findings and presenting them in a manner that inspires action.
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with a willingness to explore beyond traditional methods and embrace innovative approaches.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the capacity to lead product discussions with insights.
  • Familiarity with design thinking or other human-centered innovation methodologies.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
