Position: Assistant Teacher

Compensation: $37,440 - $48,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience

Employment Type: Full Time; Exempt

Reporting To: Childcare Director

Role Overview: The Assistant Teacher plays a crucial role in fostering a nurturing environment that encourages holistic development in children. This position collaborates with lead educators to enhance parental engagement and support child growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a supportive learning atmosphere that promotes physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Conduct developmental assessments for each child, review health documentation, and track growth metrics.
  • Create and implement individualized and group activities tailored to children's needs.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly educational plans.
  • Collaborate in designing daily schedules aligned with the educational focus set by the program coordinator.
  • Participate in developmental screenings to evaluate children's progress.
  • Work with social service staff to develop personalized service plans based on children's medical records.
  • Observe and document children's classroom behavior and development.
  • Maintain detailed records of each child's developmental milestones.
  • Engage with families through home visits to discuss children's progress and encourage participation in programs.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to review children's achievements and foster community involvement.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or a Bachelor's Degree with 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
